Low Inflow Protocol — Stage 2

Duke Energy has conservation measures in effect for this lake.

The primary generating unit at Cedar Cliff hydro station on the East Fork of the Tuckasegee River is offline to complete necessary improvements to maintain reliable and efficient energy service for our customers. A spillway gate will be opened, as needed, to manage reservoir levels. Duke Energy will also be utilizing the spillway gate to provide the recreational releases for the 2026 season. Traditionally, releases have occurred every Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday. For 2026, releases will be on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday to avoid consecutive days of potentially warm water releases through the spillway gate. This ensures we protect the aquatic life in the river that so many enjoy. Dangerous high flow conditions can exist downstream of Cedar Cliff hydro station and will be significantly higher during rainfall events. Updated lake levels are available any time at duke-energy.com/lakes, by calling 800.829.5253, or on the Duke Energy Lake View mobile app.
